SUMMARY:
The Resident Regional Chief Engineer position is integral to the success of the Chicago and Milwaukee region (Resident Region). The position requires 90% travel and will have responsibility for ensuring compliance in the region; Crothall Safety Policies, Maintenance Task Completion, Maintaining Minimal Downtime, Assisting the Plants with Meeting Production Efficiency Requirements, Maintenance Budgets, Capital Planning, Project Completion and Training. The Resident Regional Chief Engineer will work closely with the Vice President of Operations? team to develop and implement an overall maintenance strategy leading to reducing the overall operational costs for each facility in the region.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage the regions safety program to ensure; required training is up to date, OSHA required documentation is maintained and refreshed.
Periodically inspect buildings, grounds, production equipment, utility systems, life safety systems, minor equipment and fixtures to determine need of alterations and repairs.Make recommendations, in writing, to plant management.
Ensure that all new equipment has been tested before being put into service.
Audit local plant compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
Investigate and document any unusual conditions or disturbances.
Maintain and work with the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), which includes the preventative, corrective, and repair maintenance programs, parts and tools inventories.
Ensure plant compliance with CMMS.
Fill in, on site, for open chief engineer positions.
Schedule work, determine priorities, and assign specific jobs and duties based on established guidelines and directives.
Check completed work to ensure that workmanship meets specified standards and that the safety regulations are met regarding both method and outcome.
Ensure projects are completed correctly, on-time and on budget.
Coordinate and oversee outside contractors and vendors performing work at the facility.
Review specifications and proposals from contractors and evaluate with General Manager, local Chief Engineer and Vice President of Operations
Prepare RFP, drawings and specifications for bidding by contractors and vendors for approved projects.
Recommend and implement renovations and equipment changes to improve on service, energy conservancy, and operational efficiency and reduce costs.
Conduct construction meetings during the working phase of construction and renovation, and prepare minutes for Crothall, the client and effected vendors.
Participate in the recruiting, hiring and training of local maintenance teams.
MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE EDUCATION LEVEL/EXPERIENCE
Related training from vocational / technical or other schools
Working knowledge in commercial construction and building codes
Working knowledge of maintenance management in a commercial laundry or industrial / manufacturing setting
Possess emotional maturity, honesty and reliability, as well as demonstrate strong leadership abilities
Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems

Proficient in the use of Windows based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, power Point and Outlook.

Working as a Laundry Chief Engineer, you are responsible for organizing and directing programs to maintain buildings, grounds, and equipment through appropriate utilization of resources and delegation of responsibility. You will oversee and coordinate these activities along with engineering, transportation and security to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient operation. You will plan the course of these activities to meet financial/budgetary and regulatory requirements. You will maintain active and satisfactory working relationships with the rest of the management team, committees, and staff. You will provide leadership and guidance in the overall operation of the plant.
Oversees the safety of all operating equipment within the facility
Develops and trains all staff in plant and emergency procedures
Handles the procurement of all repair parts for routine preventative, and emergency repairs
Develops and maintains relationships with vendors
Develops a plant wide Preventative Maintenance Schedule for all building, process equipment, and plant utilities
Maintains the departmental budget with focus on parts, supplies and labor management
Assures compliance with all wastewater and emissions standards
Oversees outside contractors in the repairs and upkeep of plant equipment
Available for off-site, plants startups and special projects
Qualifications:
Bachelor?s degree in engineering or military experience is preferred
Ability to communicate effectively in written format and oral presentations
Ability to multi-task and establish priorities

Must be capable of reading electrical schematics, mechanical, and plumbing blue prints
Proficient in the use of Windows based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Military Transferrable Skills:
Navy Rank E-5 + with experience as ET- Electronics Technician, IC ? Interior Communications, MM ? Machinist Mate, EM- Electricians Mate is highly sought after
United States Coast Guard Rank E-5 plus with experience as EK - Machinery Technician and EM ? Electricians Mate, and DC-Damage Control Man
Military positions understanding the electrical schematics of heavy duty machinery as well as boilers, chillers, hydraulics, & pneumatic pumps
