Overview:
Medix is seeking an Engineering Manager for a leading medical device OEM located near Wheeling, IL.
This individual will be responsible for leading the Manufacturing Engineering department within the metals business unit.
The role involves managing both sustaining engineering and new product introduction teams, ensuring operational excellence, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Main Purpose of Job:
The Engineering Manager will lead, manage, and provide direction to the Manufacturing Engineering department, supporting new product introduction, current product evolution, and ongoing process effectiveness.
The role requires collaboration with the site leadership team to enhance quality, operational excellence, and build a high-performance team.
Responsibilities:
Develop and nurture a continuous improvement culture to enhance quality and operational excellence.
Align manufacturing engineering resources with business objectives.
Drive business results improvements, including throughput increase, scrap reduction, COG's reduction, and enhanced safety.
Evaluate and recommend new technologies to support new and existing product lines.
Ensure activities are performed in compliance with Quality System requirements and EHS policies.
Oversee the execution of production process qualifications, product line validations, and product qualifications.
Continuous optimization of engineering throughput using lean and agile techniques.
Organize interdepartmental activities, ensuring projects are completed on schedule and within budget constraints.
Promote a positive team culture that focuses on innovative and rigorous development.
Participate in the guidance and evaluation of team members' career development plans aligned with growth opportunities and company Values.
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related discipline.
8 years of manufacturing work experience in a regulated industry, preferably in a medical device environment.
6 years of supervisory experience.
Strong leader, clear communicator, and highly organized project manager using lean techniques.
Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and team-building skills.
Knowledgeable in capital equipment and evolution within QMS and a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of FDA and ISO guidelines for medical device development.
Technical knowledge in development methodologies, design, and project implementation for medical device manufacturing.
Demonstrable track record in creative problem solving.
Direct experience in leading characterization, design of experiments, and data analysis methodologies.
Expertise with technical documentation and advanced knowledge in MS Office, Excel/Minitab.
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification preferred.
